Body:

Over the past 4 years while serving as a Sergeant Major at two different units the MCA has provided important support. While stationed at Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Bangor, Washington I conducted 8 Corporal Courses the MCA provide plaques, certificates, and books. This impacted over 200 Corporals and Petty Officers. Both the Marine and NCO of the Quarter were given the NCO handbook provided by the MCA for the 12 quarters I was the Sergeant Major.

Since being station with 2nd Battalion 1st Marines MCA has continued to support the efforts of my unit. They purchased over $800 of professional reading books from ranks of Private to Lieutenant Colonel for our unit reading program. MCA is continuing to support with the NCO Handbooks for my Marine and NCO of the Quarter. I have received 25 copies of “The Gift of Valor’’ for a PME conducted at the SNCO level. The West Coast representative conducted a transition brief for my Marines impacting over 200 Marines that were transitioning out of the Marine Corps. In June the representative will be conducting another brief to ensure Marines that will be deploying to Afghanistan this summer will have the valuable knowledge to make an informed decision upon their return next year.

The MCA and their representative have played a valuable roll in the professional education of a generation of Marines.
