Needed-A New Paradigm
Capt Hobbs' article (MCG, Aug99) provides a good description of the challenges associated with the move to 12 staff platoon commanders (SPC)s per student company, especially considering current practices and manning levels at The Basic School (TBS). It is one thing for us to identify problems such as these when they are staring us right in the face, but quite another to solve the myriad complex problems associated with developing the world's finest officers and small unit leaders for the 21st century.
