Your Donation Dollars At Work
Dear MCA and MCAF Donors:
Your faithful contributions assure the continued growth of our professional military education programs and our efforts to reward Marine excellence. Here are some of the ways that your donations dollars directly benefitted Marines:
Thanks to your regular contributions to the Marine Corps Association and Foundation, the Commanders’ Professional Library Program was able to provide 269 professional reading libraries to Marine units in 2011. And this year, the Foundation has already granted 27 professional libraries to Marine units around the globe.
The MCA&F’s Marine Excellence Awards Program provided over 10,000 awards in 2011. This includes 3,183 Marines who received with awards ranging from trophies, plaques, K-Bars, dress blues, swords, and, an additional 6,179 Marines who received certificates recognizing their accomplishments. Exciting changes are coming to the awards program in 2012. The Foundation is getting ready to roll-out the new Company Recruit awards to be presented at each MCRD graduation. Previous graduates received a wooden plaque. Beginning in 2012, each Honor Graduate will receive a bronze statuette of Lieutenant General “Chesty” Puller. Each High Shooter awardee will receive a black glass plaque engraved with The Rifleman’s Creed written by Major General William H. Rupertus, USMC, and the Physical Fitness awardee will also receive a black glass plaque.
In January, MCA&F traveled to MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina to host a professional development luncheon and kick off the 2012 Professional Events Program. We were privileged to have Major General Jon M. Davis, USMC, Commanding General 2d Marine Air Wing, as the speaker and guest of honor. Thanks to support from our donors and corporate sponsors, the Foundation was able to provide free event tickets and meals to 37 students from the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Academy. We’d like to extend a special thank you to everyone who attended this exciting event. Please stop by the Event Page on the Foundation’s website to view photographs taken at the event.
We were excited to see many of you on 01 February at our annual West Coast Dinner in Carlsbad, California. Brigadier General Francis Kelly, USMC, Commander of Marine Corps Systems Command, was our guest speaker and guest of honor. For more information on future events, please visit our Schedule of Events page or contact our office at 1-877-4MY-MCAF.
In February, the Wounded Warrior Regiment traveled to Super Bowl XLVI, and the Foundation was pleased to provide over 90 luggage tags for the Marines to use during their trip.
Remember that none of this would be possible without your support. Please donate now to keep these programs running.
The Marine Corps Association Foundation (MCAF) is providing iPods with professional military books loaded on them to the Wounded Warrior Regiments across the East Coast. Pictured with the iPods are Col John L. Mayer, CO of the Wounded Warrior Regiment and LeeAnn Mitchell, Director of Development and Operations for the MCAF.
